This is often the first question you'll hear, and it's your chance to set the tone for the conversation.
Keep your answer focused on your professional background. Highlight key achievements, relevant experience, and why you're interested in the position.
Avoid sharing your entire career history. Instead, give a brief summary that connects your experience to the role you're applying for.
Example answer:
I've worked in marketing for the past six years, across both startups and established businesses. I started my career in content creation before moving into digital marketing. In my current company, I've led campaigns that increased website traffic by 30% and improved lead generation by 25%. This question helps employers understand whether you've done your research and what motivates you.
Focus on specific reasons that attracted you to the company and connect them to your own goals and experience. Think about how the role supports your longer-term career plans and what you can bring to the organisation. This can help you give a stronger answer when discussing your motivation for applying.

This question is designed to assess self-awareness.

One area I've worked on is spending too much time on small details.Being thorough has helped me produce high-quality work, but I realised there are times when speed and prioritisation are equally important especially in a stressful situation where deadlines are tight. To improve, I've started setting clearer timelines for tasks and focusing on what will have the biggest impact.
